Curriculum
Our curriculum is all about S.P.I.C.E.S., the Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative, Emotional and Spiritual development of your child. At the ECDiscovery Center, we will not simply tell your child or show your child. We will actively involve your child in every aspect of their education. You will see a pattern of monthly themes woven into the various classroom disciplines of literacy/reading readiness, math, science, social studies, the arts and Jewish studies.
The EC Discovery Center curriculum is based on an understanding of how children develop and grow. A developmental continuum is used to help ascertain each child’s progress throughout the course of the year. These benchmarks are general guidelines meant to give parents a framework of reasonable expectations of their child, all the while bearing in mind that each child is unique in their patterns of development.
Our curriculum offers a wonderful blend of child-initiated and teacher-directed activities. We know that when this balance is struck, and when the various areas of the curriculum are truly developmentally appropriate, children can further the process of building a healthy desire and enthusiasm for learning and a positive sense of self. As this sense grows, so too, will their self-esteem.
